1. Marija Jambri¨ak was fighting for improving the education of girls. In 1892 the first “Provisional girl’s Lyceum” was established in Zagreb, the first of its kind in the Austrian-Hungarian empire. 2. Around 1900 Marija Juric-Zagorka initiated the first women’s issue column in the Croatian press. In 1905, working as a political journalist, the Budapest parliament had to debate if she as a woman is allowed to enter the parliament. 3. In 1917 Zofka Kveder founded “´enski svijet”, the first Croatian feminist newspaper, fighting for women's suffrage and against female teacher celibacy.
